Well the rumors of Microsoft releasing a new version of Windows in 2009 is supposable debunked by the guys at WinVistaClub . They say they got a email from Microsoft and the new version of Windows will not be out till 2011. So if this is true hopefully Vista will get better with a few service packs or maybe we will all got to a nix or Mac OS.
Share ThisI am feeling a little nostalgic today. Found some old pc shows from back in the 80’s, then watched Pirates of Silicon Valley, and I then ran across this site, and felt I had to share it with you all. Takes me back to the days with my old Tandy TRS 80 coco3 loved that thing. Well hope I didn’t tell my age to much. Enjoy the site.
Share ThisThis is a quick fix for a screen that is burned in and screens with stuck pixels. UDPixel is a little utility that you run to on your screen and sometimes it takes care of the problem in a few minutes and sometimes it takes all night, but I have yet to see a screen it didn’t help. Now if you have a dead pixel “black dot” it won’t do anything for it, but if it is a stuck one “white or colored dot” it can fix it. So if you have a screen with a few problems give it a try it is free so no harm if it doesn’t work. You can get it at http://udpix.free.fr/index.php?p=dl
Share ThisWell as my first real post in months I think I will talk about a new addition to my gadget family, my Asus Eeepc. I talked about this mini laptop in another post last year when it was still being developed. Well I have one now and I simply love it. It is tiny and light weight and just great, but not perfect. I am a little miffed at Asus because they advertised her as a 900mhz machine, they have the bios limit it to 630mhz, “for battery purposes”. They claim a new bios update will remedy that, and I hope it is soon. Even at the slower speed though the little things runs several flavors of nix and XP pro great. I did add a gig of ram though, and I have a few hacks planned soon. I already have a 30gb 1.8″ hard drive that I plan to mod in to the machine with the help of a 4 port usb hub that I am going to have to put inside the little machine, and that will hopefully be the beginning to many little modifications I want to make to the small wonder Asus has bestowed upon me. To get an idea what I am talking about you can look at http://forum.eeeuser.com/index.php , and see some brilliant people at work with their Eeepcs.
The first day I had to get it open
Share ThisSorry I kind of abandon my site for so long I have been down and out but I am going to put all my energy into this now and not going to let anything hold me down this time, and yes my neck and back are still trashed but thats life. Gotta find things to focus on and move with life or get run over so here we go.
Share ThisSorry I have been missing in action. My back has kept me pretty much shut down for some time now but I am getting used to it and not need any more meds to stem the pain I can sit up and work on here once again. I still am not quite sure what is wrong with it but my physical therapist is trying to be optimistic about it and we are working to strengthen my core muscles and stretch my back. I have been undergoing electro stimulus and chiropractic treatments to get me going again but it is slow. I hope you can be patient with me while I recover thanks.
Share ThisYes I have lowered myself to talking about the iPhone, but only because of what has happened to my brothers phone. To start things of my brother has had his 8gig iPhone for two weeks today and it is a bone stock AT&T setup no hacks or unlocks. He downloaded the new update yesterday and it bricked his phone. He called support and after talking on the phone being bounced from one person to another and spending the majority of that time on hold it was determined his iPhone had a compatibility issue with the update and they are going to send him a new one on Mon. I just think it sucks that Apple would rush out an update to block people from using their devices that they bought, how ever they want and hurt people that did nothing in the crossfire. They should have tested the update for these issues more carefully I think . Nothing can ever go good when you get into a hurry on such a large issue. Ahh I guess now I can join the club of iPhone posters and be cool, I finished my iPhone story.
Share ThisYou say why would you want a 16 or even a 32gb lil flash card in your pc. Well guess what this is no little guy this one will start off at 80gb in DEC and scale all the way up to 1.2TB in a years time according to Fusion io the cards manufacture. They showed off the card by running a Linux based drive benchmarking software, and I would say it sounds like people were impressed, but I’m not sure that they were $30 a gig impressed. Yes thats right this drive will cost a fortune when it hits the streets which is why for the moment it is marketed for business storage solutions. Now don’t get all upset this is just the start for such technologies, and as fast as the industry grows it should not be to long before all of us can get the supper fast storage but by then it will only be the moderately fast card because there will always be something better around the next turn. If you want to read a full write up about the cards presentation head over to http://tinyurl.com/35dkrt.
Share ThisJust as M$ says XP is dead and Vista is the wave of the future, they go ahead and add another 5 months onto OEM’s, and retail outlets right to sell XP and keep it on the shelves. Is M$ actually listening a bit or are they stalling. I’m not quite sure but they better make allot of changes to Vista if it is going to be M$’s shinning star.
Share ThisAre you tired of having to login every time you want to start windows? Well guess what, you can disable this requirement. To do this go to the start menu, click run and type ‘control userpasswords2′. Uncheck the block ‘user must enter a user name and password to use this computer’, and that should do it. Let me know if you have any issues with this, but that should take care of it for most people. This is just a little tidbit for ya to make it easier to yous your PC.
